Dr. Maricela Smith (she/her) is a Supervising Psychologist in the Clinical Education Department at Copa Health. She is a bilingual (Spanish and English) licensed psychologist in the States of Arizona and Utah. Dr. Smith received her Psy.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University, Glendale Campus. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Southwest Behavioral & Health Services and post-doctoral training in outpatient psychotherapy and clinical services at Copa Health’s Gateway Clinic. Upon completion of her post-doctoral training, Dr. Smith was retained at Copa Health where she continues to specialize in working with members diagnosed with a serious mental illness as well as members who are part of the general mental health population. Dr. Smith is a strong advocate of a “strengths-based” approach to therapy. Dr. Smith currently serves on the board of the Arizona Psychological Foundation and is an active member of the Arizona Psychological Association and Fun Committee at COPA Health’s Gateway Clinic.
